Managing Quantity Surveyor, Oxford

Location: Oxford

Scope of Work: A key role within the commercial team delivering major wastewater infrastructure works on a landmark project in Oxford.

We are looking for an experienced Quantity Surveying professional with a track record of delivering across the commercial facets of projects and a passion for large‑scale infrastructure work. Turner Lovell is recruiting a Managing Quantity Surveyor to join a leading, highly innovative, multi‑national engineering services company in the UK.

You will be working on site in Oxford, with commercial responsibility across multiple phases of this multi‑year project.

Responsibilities
  • Play an active part in the culture of the team by encouraging and developing the commercial awareness of junior staff; motivating, overseeing performance and delegating tasks; ensuring the site team adheres to group procedures and governance.
  • Prepare internal commercial reporting; valuations/application for payment with full supporting documentation in accordance with the contract.
  • Produce Cost Reports to the client with contractually compliant supporting documentation, and manage subcontractor and material procurement schedules.
  • Administer subcontractor/supplier accounts from the preparation of detailed requisitions, monitoring and authorisation of subcontract payments through to agreement of final accounts.
  • Undertake contract administration, including change management, maintaining associated registers, identifying commercial risks and opportunities, value engineering, and challenging and managing cost control and cost mitigation.
  • Assist with preparation of the Cost to Complete and Risk Analysis Register for the projects; ensure appropriate client management is initiated and maintained; and assist in the production of the margin improvement plan on the project.
Qualifications
  • Degree qualification in Quantity Surveying.
  • Chartered or on route to achieving chartership.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to present, negotiate and lead a team.
  • Computer literate with strong skills in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Full driving licence.
