Funding Affordable Homes (FAH) is a social impact investment fund dedicated to creating and sustaining affordable housing across the UK. Established in 2015, the Fund was founded on a clear mission: to help address the national shortage of affordable homes by providing long‑term private sector capital to the affordable housing sector. FAH has successfully secured debt and equity investment from a diverse range of private individuals and institutional investors, and together they share a commitment to delivering both meaningful social outcomes and responsible financial performance.
Today, FAH’s portfolio has a Gross Development Value of approximately £152.2 million (excluding Government grants) and comprises 10 schemes providing more than 880 homes across the UK. To support its mission, the Fund has a subsidiary, Funding Affordable Homes Housing Association (FAHHA), which is able to secure UK Government grants, deliver Section 106 planning obligations, and acquire land from local authorities—helping make every pound of investment go further. FAH partners with Edmond de Rothschild Real Estate Investment Management (UK) Limited (EdR) as its property adviser. EdR provides comprehensive investment and real estate advisory services, ensuring FAH continues to deliver social impact with financial integrity and professional excellence.
This is an exciting moment to join Funding Affordable Homes Housing Association as its new Managing Director & Company Secretary (MD). The organisation has reached a point of maturity where strong foundations are in place, relationships with the regulator are positive, and the partnership with EdR is well established. The next phase is about growth: shaping FAHHA’s evolution from a stable, well‑regarded player into a larger, more visible and influential housing provider within the for‑profit social housing sector.
Working closely with the Board and EdR, our MD will lead on strategy, governance, and operational excellence, ensuring FAHHA continues to deliver high‑quality homes and strong compliance while expanding its portfolio. They will play a key role in deepening relationships with investors, partners, and the regulator, as well as exploring new delivery models—from self‑managed housing to innovative shared ownership and rental schemes. With a committed Board, strong capital backing, and an ambitious agenda, the MD will have the scope to make a lasting impact, leading FAHHA through its next chapter of sustainable growth and social value creation.
For this important role, we are looking for someone with a good understanding of the affordable and social housing sector, including its regulation, funding models, and partnership structures. The successful candidate will have the confidence and credibility to commission and oversee property management, housing management, and other professional services, providing assurance to investors, the regulator, residents, and other partners and stakeholders. They will be able to synthesise complex information, think strategically, and contribute as a thoughtful, influential, and effective leader. They will also play a central role in fostering a collaborative, positive, high‑performance culture, keeping the safety, quality, and experience of residents front and centre.
The role will be based in our offices in St. James’s, Central London, near Piccadilly Circus and Green Park. The successful candidate will be expected to spend at least 2–3 days per week in the office (ideally 3 days if full‑time), with hybrid working supported.
