Overview
The AI & Data practice works collaboratively with our clients to enhance their ability to solve complex business problems by exploiting data and analytics strategies and solutions.
Responsibilities
- Work as part of a delivery team on complex Data Transformation programs, primarily leading on data architecture and data modelling, with additional roles likely to include leading on business analysis, data strategy and solution design.
- Lead data modelling activities: develop conceptual, logical, and physical data models for core insurance domains (e.g., Policy, Premiums, Claims, Risk, Bordereaux) aligned to Lloyd's CDR and Accord data standards.
- Interpret Lloyd's CDR specifications to design data structures that support consistent capture, storage, and exchange of data across the insurance value chain.
- Establish data modelling standards and principles, naming conventions, metadata standards and design patterns as the basis for the upcoming data transformation programme.
- Collaborate with business SMEs from underwriting, claims, operations, and finance to capture requirements, resolve data definitions, and validate models.
- Define master data and reference data structures to ensure completeness, accuracy, and regulatory compliance.
- Leverage data modelling tools (e.g., ERwin, PowerDesigner, SQL Data Modeler) and maintain modelling repositories.
- Embed data models into the technology landscape through collaboration with enterprise architects, solution designers, and data platform teams.
- Contribute to client proposals, RFP responses, and thought leadership around data strategy, architecture, and transformation initiatives.
Qualifications
- Advanced problem‑solving skills and ability to communicate complex ideas effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Proven experience in data modelling within London Market Commercial and Specialty Insurance markets.
- Strong understanding of Lloyd's market operations, London Market processes, and Core Data Record specifications.
- Experience building conceptual, logical, and physical data models for core insurance entities and processes.
- Knowledge of different data modelling approaches: relational, third normal form, dimensional, star/snowflake schema, data vault, etc.
- Good understanding of data warehousing design concepts (e.g., Inmon, Kimball).
- Experience translating regulatory and market standards into practical, implementable data structures.
- Knowledge of insurance reference data (e.g., class of business codes, market participant codes, currency codes).
- Familiarity with relational database design and dimensional modelling principles for reporting/analytics.
- Proficiency with data modelling tools such as ERwin, PowerDesigner, SQL Developer Data Modeler.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and facilitation skills.
- Passion for data and analytics, eager to help clients become data‑driven organisations within complex sectors.
