Driving Licence Essential – the role requires the successful applicant to be a qualified car driver. The service is male only and self‑sufficient drivers are a must.

Calling all compassionate and dedicated individuals! Mencap is seeking passionate Support Workers to join our team in Bedlington.

As a Support Worker, you will make a real difference in the lives of individuals with learning disabilities. You will work with a diverse group of people, assisting with daily activities, providing emotional support and helping with household tasks, medication and personal care.

The position is part‑time (17 hrs per week). The person we support is a gentleman in his 50s who lives in his own bungalow in Bedlington. During the day he attends a work placement from 9:00 am until 3:30 pm, and we support him after this from 3:30 pm until a sleep‑in finishing at 9:00 am the following morning. Further details will be discussed during the interview.

  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends and holidays
  • Positive and empathetic attitude towards individuals with learning disabilities
  • Must be a qualified driver
Contract options
  • Part‑time: 17 hrs
Shift times
  • Days: Between 8:00 am – 9:00 am / 3:30 pm – 11:00 pm
  • Sleep‑in: 11:00 pm – 8:00 am (enhanced flat rate payment of £63.70)

All roles are subject to an enhanced DBS check and suitable references.
