Job description

This is a role for an experienced Male Healthcare Assistant or Male Support Worker to join the staff bank at Elysium Healthcare's Reene House facility in Newport, Wales. The role offers flexibility and control over your work schedule, with the potential to work bank shifts regionally at other Elysium services. You will be part of a team providing care for individuals with mental health conditions, with a focus on helping them lead a valued and fulfilled life.

Main duties of the job

As a Male Bank Healthcare Assistant, you will utilize your experience to support people with mental health conditions. The role can be challenging at times, so a positive attitude, compassion, resilience, and vigilance are important. However, it is highly rewarding to see people improve and be able to do things they couldn't do before, thanks to your support. You'll be working on a zero‑hour contract, giving you the freedom to choose which shifts you want to work each week.

There is no minimum number of hours that you need to work, although it is recommended to work as often as you can to ensure your induction knowledge and familiarity with the service is retained.

Weekdays, nights and weekend shifts are regularly available, which are easy to view and book through an app. Within a few taps you’ll have the shifts at Reene House secured that you want.

Whether your nursing experience is from the NHS or private sector, you can join the team as a Male Bank Healthcare Assistant with an hourly rate that includes a 12.07% uplift to cover annual leave, plus have access to a range of benefits including free meals on duty, free parking and more.

What you will be doing

You will join the team that works well together to provide care for people with mental health conditions. Whether you are currently a Healthcare Assistant, Support Worker or Care Worker, you will utilise your experience to support people to lead a valued and fulfilled life.

The service operates 24/7 with 12.5‑hour standard shifts. As a Healthcare Assistant on our bank you’ll be on a zero hour contract, giving you the freedom to choose which shifts you want to work each week.
