Overview

£55,000 Per Annum + Bonus & Excellent Benefits • Nights Mon-Fri • Oldham

gap technical are proud to be recruiting for a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer on behalf of a leading manufacturer, based at their world class facility in Oldham.

As a key member of the maintenance team, you'll keep vital, high-tech equipment running at peak performance on a permanent night shift with the stability, challenge, and reward that brings.

Responsibilities
  • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on a variety of production and auxiliary equipment, including control systems.
  • Respond swiftly to breakdowns and keep downtime to an absolute minimum.
  • Deliver preventive maintenance activities in line with the Maintenance Plan.
  • Diagnose faults quickly and effectively to help the site hit production targets.
  • Manage small engineering projects, such as new equipment installations and team training sessions.
  • Supervise external contractors and service engineers when required.
  • Complete all documentation accurately and promptly.
  • Perform electrical, pneumatic, and steam isolations in line with strict lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Create and update technical documents, including SOPs, PPM schedules, engineering drawings.
  • Support spare parts management to keep the engineering store optimised and ready for demand.
  • Drive continuous improvement and reliability initiatives across the site.
Qualifications & Experience
  • HNC/HND in an engineering discipline.
  • Completed a recognised City & Guilds, NVQ, or equivalent engineering apprenticeship.
  • Proven post-apprenticeship experience in a multi-skilled maintenance role.
  • Strong electrical bias (60/40) with competence across both electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair faults across electrical, pneumatic, steam, and water systems.
  • Experience in both planned and reactive maintenance within a manufacturing or regulated environment.
  • Demonstrable continuous improvement mindset and practical application of root cause analysis.
  • Ambitious, hardworking, and enthusiastic with a proactive, can-do attitude.
