Job summary

A staffing company is seeking a Maintenance Engineer (Electrical Bias) in Hull. This role involves maintaining plant and equipment in an FMCG environment to comply with safety standards and minimize downtime. The ideal candidate will have relevant engineering qualifications and prior FMCG manufacturing experience. The position offers a competitive salary of £50k, working 4 on 4 off nights. Purpose of Role

To maintain plant and equipment to ensure operational efficiency, compliance with food hygiene, health & safety regulations, and minimal downtime.

Key Requirements
Qualifications & Training
  • Relevant engineering qualification
  • Minimum Level 2 Food Safety
  • Completion of all mandatory and site-specific training
Experience & Skills
  • Previous FMCG manufacturing experience (preferred)
  • Understanding of continuous improvement methods
  • Strong fault-finding and root cause analysis skills
  • Accuracy, reliability, and ability to meet job demands
Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and repair plant and equipment to high standards, ensuring minimal disruption
  • Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM), documenting checks and corrective actions
  • Conduct visual inspections on machinery to detect wear, damage, or contamination risk
  • Regularly test and maintain metal detection and failsafe systems
  • Ensure safe use and maintenance of tools, spare parts, and engineering equipment
  • Liaise with management and cross-functional teams regarding breakdowns and maintenance activities
  • Uphold high standards of housekeeping, hygiene, and workshop cleanliness
  • Comply with all food safety, health & safety, and legal standards
  • Support KPIs in quality, safety, environment, yield, and customer service
  • Attend required training and ensure up-to-date knowledge of relevant regulations (e.g., HACCP, COSHH, H&S Act)
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and highlight areas for operational improvement
  • Respect ethical policies and contribute positively to the team culture
