Job summary

A large food manufacturing company in Edenthorpe is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to join a multiskilled engineering team. You will focus on both planned and reactive maintenance, ensuring minimum downtime during breakdowns while also seeking long-term improvements. The ideal candidate should have NVQ Level 3 in mechanical or electrical engineering, experience in engineering maintenance, and skills in PLC fault-finding and CMMS like Pirana. This role is ideal for team players eager to grow their skills.

About the Role

Based at a large, fast‑paced food manufacturing business you will be part of a multiskilled engineering team responsible for all planned and reactive maintenance across the site.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Maintenance & Reliability Manager, your key responsibilities include:

  • Responding quickly to breakdowns to minimise downtime and disruptions to production.
  • Ensuring all planned maintenance is carried out to a high standard.
  • Proactively looking for long‑term engineering solutions to recurring issues, with a strong focus on continuous improvement.
  • Getting involved in upgrade and installation projects.
About You

You’ll need to be apprentice trained (or have equivalent experience) and hold NVQ Level 3 or above in mechanical or electrical engineering.

Our client is open on industry background, but you will need to demonstrate the following:

  • Experience of working in an engineering maintenance role.
  • A proactive, inquisitive approach to engineering along with a methodical approach to resolving problems.
  • Keen to learn and develop new skills.
  • A team player, willing to share your knowledge and experience with the rest of the team.
  • PLC fault‑finding skills (for electrically biased engineers).
  • Experience of using Pirana or similar CMMS.
