We are seeking an experienced electrician to carry out essential day-to-day electrical work, including installation, troubleshooting, fault analysis, breakdown repair, and regular maintenance. You will be responsible for ensuring the safe operation, serviceability, and compliance of electrical systems, plant, equipment, and critical building components. Your work will help maintain a safe and compliant environment for all site personnel, contractors, and visitors.

In this role, you will handle electrical system installations, ensuring proper setup and integration with existing infrastructure, along with ongoing maintenance and emergency repairs. You’ll ensure all systems operate efficiently and in compliance with Heidelberg Materials' policies, procedures, and statutory regulations.

The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, be self-motivated, and capable of working well under pressure. You should also have the ability to lead and inspire your colleagues when necessary.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities:
  • Compliance and Safety: Work in accordance with The Electricity at Work Regulations (1989), Quarry Regulations (1999), and The Management of Electrical Safety in Quarries (Version 2, January 2021). Ensure all electrical activities are carried out to defined safe systems of work, policies, and procedures.
  • Daily Operations Oversight: Oversee the daily electrical operations, ensuring tasks are completed on time and resources are appropriately allocated to meet operational needs.
  • Maintenance Planning and Execution: Manage the electrical maintenance plan, ensuring alignment with Heidelberg Materials’ Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) while ensuring the effective execution of planned and reactive maintenance tasks within the appropriate timescales.
  • Issue Management: You will be responsible for halting work if safety standards are compromised, escalating issues, and supporting the organization of suitable interventions to rectify problems as they arise.
  • Electrical Safety Programs: Ensure the effective delivery of Heidelberg Materials' electrical safety programs, promoting a safe working environment for all employees, contractors, and visitors.
  • Asset Ownership: Take local ownership of all in-scope electrical areas, including HV/LV substations, switch-rooms, and associated apparatus, ensuring their safe and compliant operation.
  • HV/LV Appointed Duties: Carry out the duties of LV and HV appointed person when required, ensuring the safe and compliant operation of high- and low-voltage systems.
  • Continuous Improvement: Work closely with team members to identify opportunities for process improvements, cost efficiencies, and safety enhancements, driving a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Installation and Maintenance: Perform electrical installations, maintenance, and repairs on HV and LV switchgear, motor control systems, AC/DC motor installations, and variable speed drives.
  • Instrumentation Knowledge: Apply working knowledge of process instrumentation and calibration, including load cells for weigh systems, level control devices, and PID controllers.
  • Team Collaboration: Engage with a small, close-knit team, ensuring good communication and effective time management to ensure all tasks are completed efficiently and safely.
  • Record Keeping and Certification: Maintain proper documentation, including certification of work, accurate record-keeping, and adherence to technical standards set by the company.
  • Flexible Working: The role requires occasional weekend and night shifts, particularly during planned and unplanned repairs. Flexibility is essential to meet operational demands.
Qualifications:

AM2 Current Edition and Amendments of the IET 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (2018 + A3 2024 Edition).
