Maintenance Engineer - Global Manufacturer

Widnes, Cheshire | Competitive Salary plus Shift Allowance and Bonus | 4 on 4 off (Days & Nights)

Acorn by Synergie is recruiting for a Maintenance Engineer to join our client, a global manufacturing business based in Widnes. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a modern, fast-paced factory environment, supporting the ongoing performance and efficiency of production operations.

Responsibilities
  • Attend machinery breakdowns and carry out effective repairs to minimise downtime.
  • Deliver planned, preventative, and predictive maintenance across production equipment.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, technical specs, and manufacturer manuals.
  • Diagnose faults using test and measurement tools, making precise adjustments to restore function.
  • Work on mechanical installations, including levelling, alignment, and sub-assemblies.
  • Electrical installations and troubleshooting, particularly with motion control systems.
  • Liaise with external contractors for project or specialist support.
Essential Skills & Experience
  • Time-served maintenance technician with strong industrial engineering background.
  • HNC or equivalent qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Strong experience in fault-finding, repair, and installation of machinery.
  • Machine shop and fabrication shop skills - including use of lathes, grinders, milling machines, welding, and sheet metalwork.
  • Knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, and electrical control systems.
  • Experience with motor drives - Allen Bradley drive systems desirable.
  • Experience with industrial robotics - FANUC SCARA and multi-axis palletising robots preferred.
Shift Pattern
  • 4 on, 4 off.
  • 2 x 12-hour day shifts.
  • 2 x 12-hour night shifts.
