This role primarily focuses on the maintenance of test equipment, with a secondary emphasis on calibration activities across the Luton site and its satellite locations.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Principal Equipment Engineer to ensure the maintenance and scheduled calibration of various Automated Test Equipment (ATE) systems, Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) test equipment, and Special-to-Type Test Equipment (STTE) at Capability Green, Luton. Occasional travel to other UK sites may be required (no overnight stays).

  • Physically remove faulty or soon-to-expire test equipment from racks and laboratories for servicing by our test equipment provider.

  • Coordinate calibration and repair activities for project-specific test equipment.

  • Support the day-to-day management of the STTE repair and engineering facility.

  • Promptly report any ATE/test equipment issues to the Principal Equipment Engineer.

  • Assist in internal and external audits.

  • Work with the Quality Assurance team to ensure compliance with QA policies and resolve non-conformances.

  • Support laboratory stewards and test equipment coordinators, including conducting monthly audits and removing expired equipment from circulation.

What You’ll Bring
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across all levels.

  • Solid engineering foundation, ideally with experience in mechanical and electrical systems and possibly equipment calibration.

  • Familiarity with COTS test equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes, spectrum analysers, RF signal generators).

  • Basic understanding of controller interfaces (GPIB, LAN, USB).

  • Ability to perform automated self-tests and calibrations on STTE and adaptors using written instructions.

  • Full UK driving licence.

  • City & Guilds, OND/ONC in Electronic Engineering or equivalent experience.

  • Right to work in the UK

Desirable
  • IOSH certification in safety (training can be provided).

This is not an exhaustive list, and we are keen to hear from you even if you might not have experience in all the above. The most important skill is a good attitude and willingness to learn.
