Macmillan Gynaecology Oncology Associate Nurse Specialist

An exciting opportunity for a dynamic and motivated nurse to join our friendly Macmillan Gynaecology Oncology specialist nursing team. Flexibility, teamwork and a commitment to professional development and evidence‑based practice are essential. As part of the team you will support gynaecological cancer patients throughout their cancer journey, promote clinical excellence and contribute to the ongoing development of the service. You will be part of the wider cancer team that supports patients from diagnosis to treatment across sites at MFT, including NMGH, St Mary's, MRI, Withington, Trafford General and Wythenshawe.

Main duties of the job

• Work within the larger Macmillan CNS team.
• Support the Band 4 Macmillan Cancer Care Coordinator with comprehensive health‑needs assessment of patients, reassessing as appropriate and formulating personalised cancer‑care plans.
• Support PIFU & PSFU clinics with other members of the Macmillan team.
• Assess, plan, prioritise, implement and evaluate nursing interventions to meet patients' needs.
• Contribute to the organisation of multi‑disciplinary, patient‑centred care.
• Facilitate patients and carers to take an active role in care given.
• Assess and recognise potential symptoms of disease or recurrence within the gynaecology oncology specialty and elevate to appropriate clinicians.
• Undertake and promote practice sensitive to the needs of patients and families from multi‑cultural backgrounds.
• Advise and support patients to manage their symptoms.
• Attend consultant/ACP‑led outpatient clinics, manage and report on cases (as appropriate to the role).
• Communicate with clinicians and AHPs as necessary.
• Contribute to and support the work of colleagues in the multi‑disciplinary team.
• Plan systems of nursing activity that satisfy agreed standards at local, trust or national levels.
• Participate in patient‑experience surveys and audits to improve patient care.
