Job Summary

This Band 7 position offers an opportunity for a suitably qualified and experienced Nurse to work as an Educator in Palliative and End of Life Care across CDDFT. The post is Monday‑Friday 09:00‑17:00, permanent and full‑time. The salary is £47,810 to £54,710 a year pro rata.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be able to confidently deliver an established educational programme, lead and support educational discussions, plan across the training calendar, prepare sessions and liaise with the Training and Development department. They will support learners as a role model in their current practice and be flexible to enact new ways of learning and embed practice. Key duties include:

  • Facilitate training sessions for palliative care staff across the Trust.
  • Support Palliative Care Consultants and the wider workforce.
  • Promote excellence, contribute to programme reviews and audits, and support implementation of findings.
  • Work independently and collaboratively, building effective relationships with peers, colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Travel across Trust sites as required.
Qualifications & Essential Requirements
  • First level degree in a related subject.
  • Highly developed knowledge of palliative care pain and symptom control management.
  • Evidence of a teaching qualification (Cert Ed or equivalent).
  • Statutory Registration: Registered Nurse (adult or child) on part 1 of the NMC register with a valid UK NMC PIN.
  • Experience of teaching, delivering education using a variety of teaching strategies.
  • Leadership and management experience.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Degree‑level qualification in palliative care.
  • Post‑registration qualification in cancer nursing.
  • Understanding of audit methodologies and research.
  • Advanced communication skills.
  • Awareness of current political and organisational climate.
  • Experience of audit, research, practice development and service development at a senior level.
