Job Summary

Freedom Group have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Overhead Linesman to join our Network Services team. This field‑based role is essential to the safe and efficient delivery of overhead line projects up to 33 kV, working as part of a skilled team and reporting directly to the Chargehand Linesman.

Responsibilities
  • Installing, building, and refurbishing overhead lines up to 33 kV.
  • Working in accordance with Freedom and client standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintaining and developing personal competence in line with legislative and client requirements.
  • Supporting safe, effective, and efficient operations as part of a team.
  • Liaising with third parties to ensure smooth project delivery.
  • Completing daily risk assessments and maintaining site safety.
  • Following method statements and reporting accidents or near misses.
  • Upholding Freedom's values and delivering work to high standards.
  • Working on a 3‑ or 4‑man team on HV D‑pole works under the UKPN OHL contract.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Full UK driving licence with towing capability (training can be provided).
  • First Aid certification and manual handling expertise.
  • Experience working at height.
  • Winch operation (training can be provided).
  • IPAF MEWP operation.
  • Known to NRSWA operative standards.
  • Authorisations for SSE/ DNO up to 33 kV (live line working, PTW, LV linking, polarity, substation entry).
  • Chainsaw certification.
  • City & Guilds 2322.
  • Environmental awareness.
  • Safe digging techniques.
  • Minimum training and experience in the electricity industry.
  • Practical experience of overhead line works up to 33 kV.
  • Sound knowledge of Health & Safety and its practical implications.
  • Strong communication skills and excellent teamwork.
