Job summary

A global dairy leader in Devon and Torbay is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to provide support in a complex production environment. The ideal candidate has FMCG experience and is qualified to NVQ Level 3 or higher in engineering. You will handle preventative maintenance, troubleshoot equipment breakdowns, and champion health and safety. This role is part of an exciting transformation project at the creamery, which is receiving significant investment.

• Time served/apprentice trained as an electrical, mechanical or multi-skilled engineer.
• Experience with structured problem solving and fault finding.

• Carry out planned maintenance activities as per CMMS.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose breakdowns using structured problem solving.

We have an exciting Maintenance Engineer role to join our Taw Valley Creamery. This is especially exciting as the creamery is undergoing a major transformation, thanks to a £180 million investment. As this project evolves and the site expands so will the opportunities to make an impact.

How will you add value

• Provide critical breakdown support across a complex 24/7 production site from chilling systems, conveyors through to cheese processing equipment.
• Carry out planned, preventative maintenance and servicing activities as planned via the CMMS system
• Troubleshoot and diagnose breakdowns using structure problem solving techniques and drive continuous improvement to improve operational efficiencies.
• Champion health and safety by adhering to safety standards, SOPs and participating in risk assessment
• Support and lean into projects across the site, both small and large, actively inputting to site development and performance.

What you’ll need in order to be successful in the role

• Experience in an FMCG, Food or regulated manufacturing environment, working at pace in a maintenance engineer or similar
• Ideally you will be time served/ apprentice trained as an electrical, mechanical or Multiskilled Engineer qualified to a minimum NVQ Level 3/ ONC or higher.
• Structured problem solving experience, Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and faulting finding.
• Computer literate – SAP PM or similar CMMS system, Microsoft Office

• Our Taw Valley Creamery was established in 1974 and it has been a significant site for cheese production in the UK, and it has undergone various developments and expansions over the years to improve its capacity and capabilities in cheese making.
• We process approximately 1.2 million litres of milk daily; producing over 100t of award winning cheeses, such as BOB, Castello Tickler, alongside butter and whey powder
• Our Taw Valley site is soon to receive around £180 Million investment to create a new mozzarella production facility, the 2nd largest single investment in Arla Foods UK.
