Experis UK has partnerships with major clients across the UK spanning multiple industries, with a focus on training, technology and career development.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced M&A Accountant to join our finance team and play a hands-on role in mergers, acquisitions, divestments and other strategic transactions. You will be involved end-to-end, from technical accounting and due diligence through to integration, separation and compliance with international standards. You will help ensure deals run smoothly and post-transaction requirements are delivered effectively, including TSA delivery, inventory reconciliation, engagement with buyers, and transitioning/validating financial data. Beyond the deal cycle, you will contribute to finance transformation and wider M&A initiatives across the Group by performing testing, tie-outs and documentation, gaining broad exposure in a fast-moving, international business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver end-to-end M&A transactions, including acquisitions, disposals, and carve-outs.
  • Execute technical accounting for deals, including purchase price allocation (PPA), goodwill, intangibles, and disposal accounting under IFRS.
  • Prepare completion accounts, SPA adjustments, settlement calculations, and related financial analyses.
  • Perform monthly TSA accounting, including carve-out of financial information, journal postings, reconciliations, and reporting.
  • Act as the finance point of contact with buyers, responding to TSA queries with prepared schedules and supporting analysis.
  • Perform inventory reconciliations, including monthly de-recognition of balances.
  • Complete post-TSA close-out activities, including debtor reconciliations and final clean-up of financial data.
  • Prepare and deliver management reporting packs to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Execute M&A and disposal accounting, including tax considerations and completion accounts.
  • Transition and validate purchase orders and other financial data to buyers post-TSA.
  • Collaborate with auditors, tax, legal, and external advisors to ensure compliance and effective deal execution.
  • Contribute to wider finance transformation and M&A projects, leveraging capacity beyond TSA activities.
Skills and Experience

Must have:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent).
  • Strong IFRS with proven delivery across business combinations, disposals, or carve-outs.
  • Hands-on experience with financial reporting, reconciliations, and journal accounting.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to translate complex agreements into clear accounting treatments.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, confident in working with buyers, advisors, and senior management.
  • A proactive, adaptable mindset with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience in Private Equity-backed businesses.
