Band 6 Lung Nurse Specialist

Are you a Band 6 nurse looking for a new challenge or work towards the career aspiration and develop into the role of a CNS . Do you want to work as part of a specialist team continually striving to deliver quality care and improve patient experience and pathways?

Do you have a specialist interest in Lung Cancer and immune checkpoint inhibitor toxicities and pathway management? If you have a passion to make a difference working within the Lung MDT team and work as a key working for this category of patients and carers, then please apply.

We are currently looking for a compassionate, motivated and enthusiastic nurse to join us in the role of Band 6 Lung Nurse Specialist to provide personalised care and to work as a clinical nurse specialist and within Lung MDT and wider teams.

You will bring a wide range of experience and expertise including excellent communication skills and be committed to work as part of a team to compliment and support individualised, holistic patient centred care to this patient group, utilising all four pillars of advanced practice to support MDT working and nurse led clinics and contribute to the remodelling and service development within this specialist area.

The Lung Nurse Specialist will be key in supporting Band 7 CNS team and lung service and work with the team to ensure equity and accessibility supporting he best treatment for their individual diagnosis; offer holistic care, that is provided by Kent Oncology Centre at MTW.

The Lung Nurse Specialist will support the delivery of research studies across the Trust as required. They will be supported and developed into this role and will have a caseload as appropriate and be required to work within this specialist nurse led team.

You will work closely with and as part of, a multi-disciplinary team which includes Oncologists, Surgeons, Therapeutic Radiographers, community colleagues and administrative staff to ensure the delivery of a dynamic, seamless and compassionate service. You will support patients, their families and supporters to maximise their quality of life from the point of diagnosis throughout their cancer pathway.

All successful applicants will be required to complete our corporate trust induction once a start date had been agreed.

Following your corporate induction you will be expected to attend the Trust’s 2-week Induction Programme for RNs, NAs, RMs, ODPs and Paramedics. The programme is full-time (please email mtw-tr.professionalstandards@nhs.net if this is problematic) and will involve travel to both Trust sites. The programme includes supernumerary shifts in the clinical area, classroom-based sessions and e-learning.
