Job description

Our client, a respected provider within the insurance industry, is seeking a Loss Control Surveyor based in Jersey or Guernsey. This role involves conducting comprehensive underwriting risk assessments for domestic, high net worth, farming, and commercial customers, with authority from the Loss Control Team. The surveyor will provide detailed risk improvement reports and technical insights to assist Underwriting in informed decision-making and effective risk management, ultimately helping reduce potential losses for clients and the business.

Job Duties:

  • Conduct detailed underwriting risk surveys for domestic, bespoke, farming, and commercial customers
  • Identify property and liability risk improvement needs through site visits and remote surveys
  • Prepare technical reports that detail risk assessments and scoring to aid insurance decisions
  • Perform site reviews and consultancy for technical insight, collaborating with customers, sub-brokers, and brokers
  • Manage and prioritise workload to complete surveys, reports, and other tasks within agreed timelines
  • Research and publish technical guidance to enhance knowledge within the team and with clients
  • Maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, sub-brokers, underwriting, and claims teams
  • Participate in short-term projects or activities as directed by the Head of Underwriting

Job Requirements:

  • Extensive technical knowledge of risk management and loss prevention practices across various insurance risks
  • Experience in surveying or consulting within commercial settings
  • Ability to interpret underwriting requirements and make informed risk management recommendations
  • Strong communication, influencing, and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Background in Underwriting, Claims, Surveying, or Commercial Engineering (or similar field)
  • ACII qualification or working towards it
  • Full UK driving licence
