Overview

As a Logistics Officer you will be responsible for supporting the department with the receipt of deliveries into the Central Stores area for all locations within the Freeman Hospital. This role includes unloading delivery vehicles, opening and checking deliveries, receipting into the Oracle system, and delivering to end users across the Trust. The role requires liaising with wards and departments via email and telephone and provides satisfaction in helping with queries related to deliveries. The work is in a busy environment with a substantial workload and requires focus and concentration. The role involves both IT and manual duties to meet department goals and service Trust service members.

Main duties of the job

The position will consist of various skills and duties and will include the following:

  • Driving a van to service both the Day Treatment Centre and the Royal Victoria Infirmary stores.
  • Off-loading numerous delivery vehicles during the day.
  • Decanting and delivering goods to all wards and departments.
  • Planning and separating deliveries into various distribution routes on a daily basis.
  • Checking, verifying and then receipting orders into the Oracle system.
  • Answering telephones and helping with query situations which may arise.
  • Data input and the recording of daily analytical data and statistics.
  • Scanning and filing supplier delivery documentation, converting these from paper to digital format.
  • Working as part of a team and prioritizing the daily workload whilst using your own initiative.
  • Keeping the stores a safe and tidy environment to work in for yourself and your colleagues.
  • This role consists of manual and office-based activities, so it will be at times both physically and mentally demanding. Good keyboard, numerical and manual lifting skills are required, as well as a valid driving licence.
