Job description

We are looking for a passionate and committed Locum Specialist Registrar to join the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Team at West Suffolk Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Bury St Edmunds. We maintain the highest clinical standards in the management of all obstetrics and gynaecology patients and share responsibility with colleagues on day‑to‑day management of the department and participation in Trust matters concerning Clinical Governance and audit.

Responsibilities
  • Day‑to‑day management of the Obstetrics & Gynaecology Department.
  • Actively participate in departmental and Trust matters concerning Clinical Governance and audit.
  • Provide full range of services within the department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology as a bank post.
  • Book available shifts with the rota coordinator or via the Roster App.
  • Maintain full registration with the General Medical Council and hold a Licence to Practise.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient and staff information and adhere to disclosure and health and safety policies.
  • Participate in required training and health assessments, including disclosure checks and pre‑employment health assessment.
Qualifications
  • Completed a structured period of training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology with documented evidence of progress to the equivalent level of ST3 or above.
  • Will hold or be able to obtain a GMC registration and Licence to Practise.
  • Will be able to obtain a Disclosure Check (Police Check) and disclose any record of convictions, bind‑over orders or cautions as required by the DHSS Circular (HC 88) – Protection of Children.
Salary
  • Core hours (7 a.m.‑7 p.m., Monday‑Friday): £55 per hour.
  • Unsocial hours (7 p.m.‑7 a.m., including Bank Holidays and weekends): £70 per hour.
  • Bank rates are £55 for core hours and £70 for unsocial hours.
Conditions
  • The post will be based at the West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust.
  • No sponsorship is supported on bank posts and hours cannot be guaranteed.
