Local Authority Housing Advice Officer, Buckinghamshire

Pay rate to £25.50 per hour

Contract role, Local Government Housing

Aylesbury or High Wycombe locations

We are recruiting for an experienced Housing Advice Officer in the Buckinghamshire area.

Responsibilities
  • Provide statutory homelessness and housing advice service, including preventing homelessness, statutory homelessness assessments, and supporting senior officers and managers. Perform statutory duties under the Housing Act 1996 (as amended by the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017), including actions to prevent homelessness and the preparation and publication of Personalized Homelessness Prevention Plans.
  • Deliver a comprehensive, customer‑focused and high‑quality service for housing options and homelessness prevention, tailored for a diverse client group including vulnerable and disadvantaged persons and households.
  • Prevent homelessness through comprehensive housing needs assessments and the appropriate actions to resolve casework.
  • Plan and organise work to efficiently deliver specialised advice and support to internal and external stakeholders, ensuring the wellbeing of vulnerable customers.
  • Assess and determine eligibility of customers for financial and/or housing support, within legislation, regulations and policies.
  • Make detailed inquiries to relevant agencies to verify and obtain required information, and interpret and analyse information to aid decision making.

This is a contract role, and you will need to have experience in a similar Local Authority role.
