Are you passionate about reading and enjoy helping others?

We are looking for an enthusiastic, customer focussed and digitally confident individual to join our library teams.

What You’ll Be Doing:

As a Library Assistant, you’ll support the delivery of a high‑quality library and information service.

This includes:

  • Assisting customers with accessing digital resources and information.
  • Supporting in the planning and delivery of events (e.g. author events, class visits
  • Engaging with customers to promote reading for pleasure

You will be appointed to a library base(s), but there will be an expectation that you will work at other libraries as required. Hours of work are listed against the available posts and are a set working pattern over two weeks, see attachment for rotas.

The posts available are:

  • Freckleton & Ansdell Libraries 15.5hpw
  • Knott End Library 16hpw
  • Fleetwood Library 7hpw
  • Kirkham Library 16hpw
What We’re Looking For:

Our ideal person will be welcoming and friendly, have a love for reading and be passionate about sharing this. You will have excellent communication and digital skills, be able to work with a range of stakeholders and be able to deliver a customer focused service.

Interview Process:

The interview process will be in two parts:

Part 1 – All shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend an assessment day. This will last about 1hr and involve:

  • A meeting with a manager
  • Tour of the library and explanation of duties
  • Work related short assessments

Part 2 – All applicants attending the assessment day will be invited for interview.

Assessment Date: 11am to 3pm, 3rd February - Cleveleys Library

Interview Date: 9th February – venue to be confirmed

Please note the salary quoted for this position is the full time equivalent. These positions are part time, therefore, the salary received will be paid on a pro‑rata basis.
