Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a hygiene supervisory role within food manufacturing.
  • Strong understanding of BRCGS and HACCP requirements.
  • Training in COSHH and chemical safety is desirable.

Hygiene Supervisor

Location: Rainham, Essex (Food Manufacturing Site)

Reports to: Hygiene Manager

Shift pattern: 4 days on, 3 days off, 3 days on, 4 days off

Hours: 6am - 6:30pm

Impact

As our Hygiene Team Supervisor, you will lead from the front to ensure the highest hygiene and food‑safety standards are upheld across our manufacturing site. You will manage and motivate a team of hygiene operatives to deliver a safe, compliant, and spotless environment ready for production every single day.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise day‑to‑day hygiene operations, including scheduled deep cleans, routine tasks, and reactive cleans.
  • Manage and coach a team of hygiene operatives, setting clear expectations, monitoring performance, and maintaining high morale.
  • Ensure compliance with all food‑safety regulations (BRC, HACCP, COSHH, etc.) and internal standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of cleaning schedules, chemical usage, and hygiene audits.
  • Carry out hygiene inspections and support internal/external audits.
  • Work closely with the Technical and Production teams to align hygiene tasks with production needs.
  • Maintain stock levels of hygiene equipment and cleaning chemicals, ensuring safe storage and usage.
  • Support continuous‑improvement projects to drive hygiene efficiency and effectiveness.
What We’re Looking For
  • Previous experience in a hygiene supervisory role within a food manufacturing or FMCG environment.
  • Strong understanding of food‑safety, BRCGS, and HACCP requirements.
  • Confident in leading a team, giving clear instructions, and handling performance conversations.
  • Strong attention to detail, with pride in a clean and organised workspace.
  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt in a fast‑moving, scale‑up environment.
  • Training in COSHH and chemical safety (desirable).
  • Fluent in English; other language skills are a bonus.
