Job summary

A specialist LGBT+ anti-abuse charity is seeking an Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) to provide essential support for LGBT+ survivors of domestic abuse. The role involves advocacy, case management, and collaboration with multi-agency services. The ideal candidate should have experience in domestic abuse support and a commitment to inclusivity. The position offers a flexible work arrangement based in the City of London.

Qualifications

  • Experience as an IDVA or equivalent is ideal.
  • Knowledge of multi-agency working.
  • Enhanced Child and Adult DBS dated within the last 12 months.

Responsibilities

  • Provide trauma-informed, person-centred advocacy.
  • Complete risk/needs assessments and safety planning.
  • Advocate in safeguarding, housing, health, and criminal justice settings.

Overview

Role: IDVA

Based: City of London Talbot Court / Remote

Rate: GBP19 - GBP20ph umb

Start Date: ASAP

Duration: Temp for 3 months

Hours: 35 hours per week 3 days home, 1 day office, 1 day in the community

Our client, a specialist LGBT+ anti-abuse charity is looking for an IDVA to provide specialist, independent support to LGBT+ survivors of domestic abuse, working with clients at high and medium risk of harm.

Responsibilities
  • Hold a caseload of LGBT+ survivors, providing trauma-informed, person-centred advocacy and support.
  • Complete risk/needs assessments, safety planning, and ongoing case management.
  • Advocate on behalf of clients within safeguarding, MARAC, housing, health, criminal justice and other multi-agency settings.
  • Maintain high-quality case recording, data monitoring and reporting using our CRM Salesforce.
Essential Requirements
  • Experience supporting survivors of domestic abuse, ideally as an IDVA or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding, risk management and multi-agency working.
  • Strong advocacy skills and familiarity with housing, legal and welfare systems.
  • Commitment to inclusive, by and for services and understanding of LGBT+ survivors needs and barriers they may face.
  • SafeLives IDVA qualification desirable but not essential.
  • Enhanced Child and Adult DBS dated within the last 12 months or on the update service
