Overview

Summary:Join Hatchell Wood Preschool as a Level 5 Apprentice Practitioner! Support children in a warm, caring wraparound/preschool setting in Doncaster. Work 30 hours per week in a collaborative environment, gain hands‑on experience, and enjoy strong progression opportunities in early years leadership.

Responsibilities

• Follow EYFS, Teacher Standards (Early Years), and preschool policies.
• Oversee day‑to‑day preschool operations and deliver high‑quality care.
• Ensure a safe, stimulating environment indoors & outdoors.
• Act as a key person for a small group of children and liaise with parents/carers.
• Identify and report safeguarding concerns.
• Support and teach children with appropriate stimulation.
• Attend staff meetings, training, and in‑service courses.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding children, families, and staff.
• Work with external agencies and the committee on self‑evaluation and improvement.
• Undertake reasonable duties aligned with the preschool's aims.
• Support the wraparound service and ensure a clean, safe, stimulating environment.

Training

Training is provided by Total Training Provision Limited, with at least 20% of working hours spent on off‑the‑job learning, including:

• E‑learning, projects, and employer‑led development.
• One‑to‑one coaching and masterclasses.
• Portfolio building and final assessment.
• Functional skills in English & Maths if needed.

The programme develops confident leaders ready for senior early years roles.

Training course: Early Years Lead Practitioner (Level 5, equivalent to Higher National Diploma).

Qualifications

• Level 3 Childcare Qualification or above.
• Level 3 Safeguarding Certificate.
• Paediatric First Aid Certificate.
• Grade 4 (or equivalent) in Maths & English.
• Passing a DBS check.
• At least 12 months working within a setting.
• A Level Early Years Educator (Grade 3).
