Job description

The Lending Finance team is a finance business partner and controller to the Lending desks at Investec. The team covers Direct Lending, Fund Solutions, Energy & Infrastructure, Aviation, Real Estate and Private Banking Clients. What will I be doing? This is a high impact, front office aligned finance role, offering exceptional exposure to senior stakeholders, complex investment structures and a strong lending business. This role is a rare blend of financial control and business partnering with direct exposure to live investments and deal driven decision making. The successful candidate will be both a rigorous financial controller and a trusted business partner helping shape performance and decision making across Principal Investments and Direct Lending. Financial Control and reporting:

Financial Control and Reporting
  • Own end to end financial control for Principal Investments & Direct Lending desks including:
    • Monthly, Quarterly and Annual close processes
    • Balance sheet substantiation and P&L integrity
    • Review of complex accounting treatments (including fair value movements, impairments and investment valuations)
  • Ensure high quality, timely and accurate financial reporting in line with IFRS, Group Accounting policies and regulatory standards
  • Act as a key liaison with external auditors, Group Finance, internal risk and controls
FP&A and Partnering
  • Deliver insightful management information, forecasting and budgeting for the Principal Investments & Direct Lending desks
  • Partner closely with Investments head and Direct Lending leadership to:
    • Analyse deal performance and returns
    • Support pricing decisions
    • Provide forward looking financial analysis and scenario modelling
Investment Portfolio
  • Be the go-to person in Finance for Principal Investments and support the financial oversight of a diverse principal investment portfolio
  • Lead on valuation processes and post investment performance tracking
Qualifications
  • Qualified Chartered Accountant with 2 - 3 years PQE
Technical Skills & Knowledge
  • Strong grounding in IFRS, particularly: Financial Instruments, Fair value measurement, Impairment and provisions
  • Excellent Financial control fundamentals with the ability to operate commercially
Stakeholder & Communication Skills
  • Confident communicator able to engage credibly with Front office professionals, senior Finance Leadership and non-finance stakeholders (Risk, Operations, IT)
  • Ability to challenge constructively, influence & balance control with commerciality
Mindset
  • Self-motivated, able to work without close supervision
  • Proactive, have initiative and drive, willing to take on extra responsibility
  • Intellectually curious, commercially minded & comfortable working with the business
  • Strong sense of ownership, accountability and attention to detail

Other Attributes
  • Experience in Financial Services, Private Equity, Direct Lending or Investments
  • Experience with valuation methodologies
  • Systems experience with large finance platforms (e.g. Oracle, Power BI) and operations (e.g. Loan IQ)
