  • Answer phone calls and assist clients in the absence of lawyers.
  • Manage client files and perform necessary administrative checks.
  • Maintain schedules and organize meetings for lawyers.
  • Draft letters/forms and manage legal documents.
  • Coordinate financial tasks with the accounts team.
  • Assist with office organization and report IT issues.

Job Title: Legal Secretary

Salary: £30,000 per annum

Location: St Albans

Contract: Permanent

Hours: Monday to Friday 9am-5:15pm

Responsibilities
  • Answer phone calls and assist clients when the lawyer is unavailable, including meeting walk‑in clients, addressing queries, and taking messages.
  • Manage client files by opening/closing them, performing money laundering checks, and updating records.
  • Maintain lawyers' schedules, organise meetings, and handle outgoing mail and emails.
  • Perform typing tasks, draft standard letters/forms, and manage documents, including deeds.
  • Coordinate with the accounts team for financial tasks, including cheque management and using the peppermint system.
  • Input client information into case management systems and perform general administrative tasks like photocopying and file archiving.
  • Ensure office organisation, report IT issues, and assist with secretarial and telephone cover as needed.
