As a Legal Counsel - Associate in the ICB Legal Marketing Team, you will play a pivotal role in enabling the business to deliver impactful, compliant, and creative marketing campaigns. You will be a trusted advisor to our marketing, brand, and product teams, helping to shape the future of consumer banking and investing. Job Responsibilities
  • Serve as the legal advisor for the ICB marketing team, providing strategic guidance on all aspects of marketing activities across digital, social, and traditional channels.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of marketing vendor contracts, including those for marketing services, affiliate marketing, marketing technology platforms, sponsorships, influencers, talent, and agencies.
  • Review and approve marketing materials, campaigns, promotions, and communications to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.
  • Partner with the business to develop compliant messaging for new products, features, offers, rewards, and related disclosures.
  • Advise on legal risks and mitigations relating to marketing activities, proactively identifying issues and seeking timely, practical resolutions.
  • Help build and scale processes for marketing review, contributing to the continuous improvement of legal and business operations.
  • Monitor regulatory trends and enforcement in consumer finance marketing, keeping the business ahead of emerging risks and opportunities.
  • Work collaboratively with legal colleagues (privacy, IP, financial regulations), sourcing and vendor management, compliance and product.
  • Support on marketing campaigns, offers, rewards, prize draws, and the use of innovative tools such as AI in marketing.
Required qualifications, skills and capabilities
  • Qualified Lawyer: UK or European qualification required.
  • Experience advising marketing teams on legal and regulatory matters.
  • Drafting and negotiation skills, with the ability to deliver pragmatic, solutions‑oriented advice.
  • Ability to balance legal risk with commercial objectives; strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; confident, pragmatic, and a self‑starter with a hands‑on mentality.
  • Experience working collaboratively in a diverse and inclusive team environment.
Preferred qualifications, skills and capabilities
  • European language skills are desirable but not required.
  • Prior in‑house legal experience is desirable.
