Job description

Legal Compliance Officer - £35k - £50k, can be based in Taunton, Bridgewater or Yeovil. Possibility of Hybrid working (after probationary period)

Exciting opportunity for a Compliance Officer to support the Compliance Officer for Legal Practice (COLP). Prior legal experience is essential with a clear understanding of regulatory requirements.

This is a business-critical function requiring someone confident working on their own initiative and effective communication skills at all levels.

Responsibilities of the Role

  • Support/assist the COLP with all aspects of Risk and Compliance.
  • Ensure the company's compliance standards are met.
  • Assist with complaints and claims.
  • Organize monthly Risk and Compliance meetings and prepare agendas.
  • Take notes during meetings and circulate them.
  • Produce monthly and annual compliance reports and collate relevant information.
  • Support/assist the Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO).
  • Update and monitor the company’s Office Manual, including all compliance policies and procedures.
  • Be the first point of contact for staff compliance queries.
  • Administer, update, and train staff on the company’s compliance platform.

Skills & Experience

  • Legal experience.
  • Understanding of Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) rules.
  • Ability to resolve issues effectively.
  • Engaging personality with strong communication skills.
  • Pro-active approach.

Ability to work as part of a team and independently.

Valid driving license and own vehicle are essential, as you may work across different offices.
