About the role

As part of the growth and development of our Business School, we are looking for a highly motivated Accounting and Finance Lecturer to join us in delivering our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, including apprenticeships, and to contribute to our high-quality research profile. The post holder will become part of a friendly, hard-working and dedicated team of academics who deliver our BSc (Hons) Accounting and Finance; MSc International Finance and Accounting; and finance-related modules on our undergraduate and postgraduate Business programmes. We pride ourselves on offering strong support to students to help guide their success. Our academic staff bring significant industry experience, including backgrounds as professional accountants and in banking. As a programme and as a Department we are also committed to fostering an inclusive culture which promotes equality and diversity. Main Responsibilities

The University of Staffordshire BSc (Hons) Accounting and Finance is ACCA and CIMA accredited, giving our students a head‑start in their career once they graduate. You will be a member of the discipline team responsible for giving our students an excellent grounding in key topics including taxation, financial accounting, auditing and corporate governance. With a strong focus on employability skills, you will also be working with our students to delve into contemporary issues, from the challenges of regulating fintech to the growth in cryptocurrency. With your ability to use real‑world examples, you will also support our students’ understanding of the crucial role accounting and finance plays in organisational decision‑making.

The main responsibilities for our L/SL in Accounting and Finance will be to:

  • Support the development and delivery of the academic provision to undergraduate and postgraduate students, as required, ensuring an excellent student experience
  • undertake teaching and teaching‑related activities as determined by the Course Leader/Course Director/Head of Department
  • participate in research, knowledge exchange, public engagement and/or scholarly activity for personal development and to enhance the reputation of the University
  • lead/contribute to University and/or School initiatives in line with strategic business plan
  • For a Senior Lecturer, take a leading role in the above activities, supporting the Course Director/Head of Department with operational management responsibilities, as required.
