Job description

Role: Lecturer – Plumbing

Location: Central Bedfordshire College – The Incuba – Dunstable

Salary / Benefits: Salary is between £33,048 and £38,169 per annum (Pro-Rata) DOE and Qualifications, 45 days annual leave (Pro-Rata) plus Bank holidays, Teacher’s pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses. Note – Salary and Annual Leave entitlement is for that of a Qualified Lecturer.

Hours / Weeks: 22 hours per week – 52 weeks per year

Contract Type: Permanent – Part Time

About the role

We are currently seeking a Lecturer in Plumbing to join our Construction department at The Bedford College Group.

• Qualifications & Industry Expertise – Degree-level qualification in a relevant subject, Level 3+ in maths or English, teaching qualification (or willingness to obtain), and up-to-date vocational skills with industry experience.
• Teaching & Learning Skills – Ability to teach using varied approaches and learning modes, solve problems in practical sessions, and apply health and safety knowledge effectively.
• Communication & Presentation – Clear presentation skills, strong interpersonal and communication abilities, and the capacity to motivate, inspire, and demonstrate effectively.
• Professionalism & Development – Commitment to continuous professional development, staying current in your field, being a reflective practitioner, and championing quality assurance in a target-driven environment.

About you

• Qualifications & Industry Knowledge – Level 3 qualification in a relevant subject, Level 2 in English and Maths, Assessor Award (or willingness to achieve), and current vocational skills aligned with industry standards.
• Teaching & Learning Expertise – Ability to teach across vocational areas and learner levels using varied approaches and learning modes, with strong knowledge of the latest technology and health & safety practices.
• Quality & Communication Skills – Familiarity with industry quality assurance systems, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to motivate and inspire learners.
• Professionalism & Development – Committed to continuous professional development, reflective practice, and maintaining up-to-date expertise in your field.
