Overview

Full-Time, Fixed-Term (12 months). Applications are invited for a 12-month fixed term post of Lecturer in Social Work/ Social Sciences (Teaching Focus) in the Department of Law and Criminology.

The Department of Law and Criminology is part of the School of Law and Social Sciences. It is a forward thinking, inter-disciplinary and research active department, which offers undergraduate programmes in Criminology & Psychology, Criminology & Sociology, Social Sciences and LLB; together with Masters programmes in Social Work, Forensic Psychology, and Terrorism and Counter-Terrorism Studies. The Department is also home to an energetic research community and prides itself on its commitment to social justice which is underlined in its teaching, research, and external activities.

Responsibilities
  • Contribute to teaching delivery on our BSc Social Sciences, BSc Health and Social Care and MSc Social Work courses.
  • Teach undergraduate and Masters core and optional modules on these courses.
  • Teach effectively with a broad range of skills and contribute to academic leadership and to course or department administration or projects improving the student experience.
  • Engage in activities that support the department's commitment to social justice in teaching, research, and external activities.

  • Teaching expertise in Human Development, Social Policy, Health and Social Care topics.
  • Teaching and practice experience in Social Work.
  • A broad range of skills needed to teach effectively and to contribute to academic leadership.

The post is based in Egham, Surrey where the University is situated in a beautiful, leafy campus near to Windsor Great Park and within commuting distance from London. The teaching for our MSc in Social Work is based at our central London campus in Senate House, London.
