The Role

Here at Aspire People, we are seeking a flexible, enthusiastic and skilled Learning Support Assistant to join a dedicated team. This role will primarily involve supporting students with their learning needs in the classroom, with the added responsibility of providing PPA (Planning, Preparation and Assessment) cover for teaching staff where needed.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working collaboratively but also feels confident leading a class in the absence of the teacher.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils with a variety of special educational needs
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering differentiated and engaging lessons
  • Deliver planned lessons during PPA cover time, ensuring continuity of learning
  • Support the emotional and social development of students, encouraging positive behaviour
  • Help to create a safe, supportive and inclusive classroom environment
  • Work closely with teachers, therapists, and other support staff to meet individual pupil needs
What We're Looking For
  • Previous experience working in a special school or SEN/SEMH setting is desirable
  • Confidence in leading a class during teacher PPA sessions (plans will be provided)
  • A calm, patient and resilient approach
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • A willingness to learn and adapt to different needs and strategies
