Job description
Learning Support Assistant

Windsor Forest Colleges Group is looking for a Learning Support Assistant to join our Foundation Department at Slough and Langley College on a part‑time, term‑time basis. The role involves working 22.5 hours per week on a 37‑week, Term Time Only basis, with scheduled days Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday between 08:30 and 17:00. The position is paid on scale G of the Support Staff pay scale (G16 £12,171.78 – G19 £13,528.46).

As a Learning Support Assistant you will enable students across various college campuses to access the curriculum fully and achieve their learning goals. Reporting to the Head of Department you will work under the direction of educational staff to support teaching, learning and related activities. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with planning and evaluating learning activities for individuals and groups
  • Maintaining confidential support records
  • Collaborating with pastoral staff to help students overcome learning challenges
  • Providing support to students with learning difficulties such as Autism and Dyslexia where applicable

Key qualifications and attributes:

  • Level 2 qualification in English and Maths
  • Positive outlook with the ability to develop rapport with students and staff
  • Flexibility to work across different curriculum departments
  • Strong organisational skills and commitment to student development and personal growth
  • Experience in educational or support environments is desirable, particularly with students with learning difficulties
  • Adherence to college policies including the Diversity & Equality Policy, safeguarding, child protection and data protection
  • Understanding of the college’s risk management and health and safety procedures
  • Demonstrated qualifications and relevant experience in the application form for consideration
  • Successful completion of an enhanced DBS and Barred List check and other legally required checks
