Qualifications

Job Title: Learning Mentor
Location: Plumstead, South East London
Salary: Scale 6 - 30,963 per annum (Actual gross salary)
Job Type: Permanent, Full Time, 35 hours per week, 39 weeks per year

About the Role:

We are seeking a Learning Mentor to provide complementary academic support and pastoral guidance to students. You will be working closely with our integrate Inclusions and Pastoral teams alongside Curriculum Teams to narrow the gaps in achievement for key cohorts of students by devising, implementing and evaluating specialised programmes of work to encourage and promote students social emotional and behavioural development.

Keeping records of student's development and progress, including monitoring students' behaviour before, during and after intervention to measure the impact of the intervention strategy on progress will be important.

You will train and support other school staff by modelling approaches with a view to staff feeling confident and able to use the approaches of successful learning mentoring.

About you:
  • The successful candidate will need to have Level 3 Qualifications (A level or Level 3 Vocational qualifications) and at least a Level 2 qualification in English and Maths.
  • A qualification at degree level would be an advantage.
  • A qualification in mentoring or coaching together with experience of working with young people in Key stage 3, 4, or 5 would be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of good practice in inclusion, differentiation, engagement and the pathways available to meet the needs of different learners, including the more able and students at risk of not being in education, employment or training.
  • You should also have competent ICT skills.
