Join ALTEN UK and work on cutting‑edge engine control systems in the aerospace sector. You’ll take a technical leadership role guiding a large engineering team while collaborating with our customer on complex safety‑critical embedded systems challenges. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on innovative control systems and make an impact in a high‑tech engineering environment.

Location: Derby (2 days on‑site per week)

Experience Level: 10 years (Senior / Lead)

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and mentor a team of 30 engineers in the development and management of software requirements for aerospace control systems
  • Oversee requirements capture flow‑down and verification using DOORS
  • Ensure compliance with safety‑critical standards such as DO‑178C and ARP4754
  • Collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders to maintain full system traceability
  • Use DevOps tools to improve and streamline development processes
  • Build strong technical relationships with the customer and internal teams
Qualifications: Required Skills
  • Strong background in Software Systems Engineering within aerospace or safety‑critical domains
  • Proven experience with DOORS and DevOps
  • Working knowledge of DO‑178C and ARP4754 standards
  • Expertise in embedded software control systems and requirements management
  • Excellent leadership, mentoring and communication skills
Desirable Skills
  • Experience using MATLAB / Simulink for modelling or system analysis
  • Familiarity with engine control systems
  • Prior experience within aerospace or defence engineering roles
Required Qualifications
  • A Bachelors or Masters degree in Software Systems, Electronics or Control Engineering or related discipline
  • OR a relevant technical military background with equivalent hands‑on engineering experience
