Job summary

A leading healthcare provider in London is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Lead Midwife for the systematic examination of newborns. You will lead the SEN programme, ensuring compliance with national standards while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. This role offers a Monday to Friday schedule and opportunities for professional development in a supportive environment. Candidates should be registered midwives with examination training, and possess strong leadership and clinical skills.

Qualifications

  • Post registration experience as a midwife.
  • Experience conducting examinations of newborns.
  • Clinical expertise in midwifery practice.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor day-to-day compliance with SEN programme standards.
  • Oversee the S4N failsafe system for newborn examinations.
  • Maintain a visible presence in clinical practice.
  • Provide cover for the Postnatal Lead Midwife.
  • Support other clinical areas during designated days.

Skills

Must be able to practice in all areas in accordance with the Midwives Rules and Codes of Conduct
Forward thinking approach to care
Practice as an autonomous midwife in acute and primary care
Ability to make appropriate clinical decisions
Ability to conduct relationships to minimize conflict
Initiates reflective practices
Confident in teaching and assessing students
Able to prioritize workload appropriately

Education

Registered midwife on the NMC register
Examination of Newborn trained
Teaching and assessing qualification (mentorship course)
