Astute's Power Team is partnered with a market-leading Energy company to recruit for a Lead Mechanical Engineer, with a focus on Rotating Plant, to join their Combine Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) Power Station in Rochester, Kent.

The role offers a basic salary of £58,100 - £87,100, a performance‑related bonus, and other excellent benefits.

Responsibilities and duties
  • The management of the site’s rotating equipment which includes the 2 GE 9FA Gas Turbines, D11 Steam Turbine and other rotating plant.
  • Leadership of the Rotating Plant team of technicians & engineers.
  • Delivery of the outage strategy and management of projects as well as enhancing the planned maintenance strategy.
  • Ownership of the budget and contract management of key strategic suppliers.
  • Ensuring health, safety & environmental compliance, along with the pressure regulations and lifting gear inspection requirements.
  • Assisting in continuous improvement such as plant developments, modifications, and projects.
  • Supervising and setting to work on site contractors.
  • Ensuring the availability of plant spares.
Professional qualifications
  • Ideally a Degree in a Mechanical Engineering discipline; however, candidates with an HND/HNC/NVQ Level 3, etc., will also be considered.
  • A formal Health and Safety qualification such as IOSH will be advantageous but is not a necessity.
Personal skills, prior experience and knowledge
  • Prior experience working with mechanical systems including pumps, turbines, boilers, HRSG equipment, etc.
  • Practical knowledge of process plant and equipment gained in a heavy engineering environment such as power generation (CCGT, EfW, Biomass), petrochemical, steel works, CHP plant, paper mill, etc.
  • Knowledge of Pressure Systems Safety Regulations (PSSR).
  • Excellent communication skills with proven ability to lead teams.
  • Proven ability in leading a team of engineers & technicians.
Salary and benefits

A starting basic salary of £58,100 - £87,100, a performance‑related bonus, and other excellent benefits.
