Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a pro-active and dynamic Lead Nurse & Clinical Supervisor to join our patient focused and supportive immunisations and vaccination team in South Powys.

The current vacancy is 37.5 hours / 5 days per week. The successful applicant will lead the vaccination centre and outreach settings in order to increase local uptake by supporting and providing immunisation and vaccination services to the eligible population of Powys, in line with the National Immunisation Framework.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the vaccination centre and outreach settings to deliver immunisations and vaccinations in a wide range of settings (vaccination centres, outreach clinics at local community centres, community hospitals and care homes).
  • Provide effective leadership and day-to-day management to the clinical team; ensure delivery of immunisations and vaccinations to the eligible population of Powys.
  • Provide leadership and clinical supervision to a team of immunisers; offer highly specialist advice and clinical services to the eligible population of Powys.
  • Demonstrate sound leadership and organisational skills; supervise staff and oversee staff performance and development.
  • Understand clinical governance to provide a safe immunisation service; influence and facilitate change and foster a positive work culture across immunisation settings.
  • Undertake day-to-day management duties of new and existing staff, allocate duties, and handle sickness absence, study leave requests, PADRs and other staff queries.
  • Work to clinical Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and guidelines; supervise vaccination delivery and ensure adherence to clinical governance.
  • Make judgements and decisions within your professional code of conduct and in line with national and organisational policies; work closely with the Deputy and Senior Clinical Leads for Immunisation and Vaccination.
  • Operate as an independent practitioner with a high degree of autonomy and minimal supervision.
  • Travel to different vaccination sites across Powys Teaching Health Board; substantial post-graduate immunisation experience is essential.
