Lead Mechanical Engineer - Home-Based (Renewables / Power)

Overview

We are seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer to provide technical leadership across mechanical assets for renewable and power generation sites across England. This role combines engineering expertise, project delivery, and asset governance to ensure safe, efficient, and optimised operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and contribute to mechanical asset optimisation projects, including planned and unplanned outages
  • Provide expert mechanical engineering advice across heat and power assets, auxiliary plant, and mechanical pipework systems
  • Support the development and delivery of risk‑based maintenance strategies in line with PSSR and national standards
  • Assist with mechanical and boiler maintenance contract management, including technical input into procurement and contractor performance reviews
  • Define and implement mechanical engineering solutions to improve asset performance within project budgets and objectives
  • Act as Technical Authority for mechanical asset governance, supporting IMS document updates and safety rules
  • Collaborate with O&M teams, design teams, and other stakeholders to promote process safety and continuous improvement
  • Support incident investigations, Panels of Inquiry, and lessons learned exercises across sites
  • Ensure compliance with financial standards, project budgets, and procurement principles
