Overview

The Grind Process Engineer has responsibility for all aspects of the manufacturing elements required to grind blade and vane components of gas turbine engines. The role coordinates with the Quality, Engineering and Operations teams daily to ensure assigned processes are running within specified parameters. The role identifies process improvement opportunities and is responsible for ideation through execution of these projects. This includes working directly with equipment vendors for new equipment procurement and on-site implementation. Strong project management, teamwork, and communication skills are essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for manufacturing processes utilizing 3-6 axis conventional and creep feed grinding.
  • Supports adjacent manufacturing processes including milling and inspection.
  • Technical leader for production technical resources. Coordinates shop floor support and prioritizes improvement projects with production technical team.
  • Analyze and sustain process capability for assigned processes. Regular interaction with the grind process through direct shop floor support.
  • High focus on safety and quality in assigned area and processes.
  • Incorporate Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) with existing and new process development.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts for process or machine related issues, using root cause analysis to implement solutions.
  • Define and control production process including tooling, equipment, and training.
  • Document and validate process changes within guidelines of the Quality Management System.
  • Validate design specifications and shop floor application of new product, tools, or equipment.
  • Develop in-depth knowledge of the grind process. Uses prior experience and acquired technical expertise to execute projects and train others.
  • In-depth understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the business.
Qualifications
  • Moderate level of judgment and autonomy. Has ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters but with guidance. Uses prior experience and on-the-job training to solve straightforward tasks. May use multiple internal sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (Or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in Manufacturing & Production Process and Equipment) PLUS a minimum of 3 years of experience in Manufacturing & Production Process and Equipment, 3 years of experience in grinding discipline.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
  • Humble: respectful, receptive, agile, eager to learn.
  • Transparent: shares critical information, speaks with candor, contributes constructively.
  • Established project management skills.

Salary and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $83,800.00 - 112,000 USD Annual. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate's experience, their education, and the work location. In addition, this position is eligible for a performance bonus/variable incentive plan. This posting is expected to close on August 10, 2025.
