Job description
Overview

We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic HCPC registered Podiatrist to work within the field of Diabetes and High Risk footcare, at a Band 7 level. Full-time is preferred, but part-time would be considered.

You will be an active member of the Surrey and Sussex Multidisciplinary Footcare Team (MDFT) and provide leadership on the organisational and development of the outpatient element of the service. You will be guided by comprehensive policies and a supportive team, to assess, diagnose, develop and implement individual programmes of care for patients. Our patients present with a wide range of clinical needs, including acute and chronic neuropathies, chronic diseases, vascular problems and wound management.

You will have the opportunity to broaden your experience and work within a supportive and stimulating multidisciplinary service across both primary and secondary care. You will need to be an enthusiastic, flexible and an adaptive team player. You will communicate well with other team members and patients whilst being punctual, reliable and committed to providing a high-level of patient care.

Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist footcare for patients with complex high risk foot problems, including diabetes patients with acute and chronic foot wounds, neuropathic and vascular complications, immunosuppressed patients and patients with poor tissue viability.
  • Be clinically responsible for treatment of the high risk caseload, working autonomously as well as as part of the multidisciplinary team.
  • Accept urgent referrals from GPs, community podiatrists, and other health professionals and provide responsive specialist care.
  • Lead the outpatient element of the service and contribute to the education and up-skilling of clinical and care staff working with diabetic care and patient education.
  • Work across a variety of settings within the East Surrey area including hospital and community locations.
