Job summary

A healthcare organization in Chertsey is seeking a candidate responsible for ensuring operational practices in ultrasound services. This role involves using high-spec technical ultrasound equipment, quality assurance, and supporting investigations of clinical incidents. The successful candidate will be accountable for monitoring and reporting on service continuity, compliance with protocols, and participation in audits.   • Ensure performance indicators for FASP are produced quarterly.
  • Comply with Infection Control and Clinical Governance protocols.
  • Coordinate Quality Assurance processes and equipment testing.
  • Monitor and report equipment faults and issues.
  • Participate in the department's Audit programme.
Job description
Responsibilities

To ensure that the operational practices and requirements are adhered to. To use high specification technical ultrasound equipment and ensure it is in good working order. Assist in the evaluation and selection of ultrasound equipment as required. Support the investigation of complaints/PALS enquiries, clinical/nonclinical incidents and near misses.

Ensure that issues arising from the investigation are suitably addressed and also used as an opportunity to improve and learn within the service. Some of these issues can be of a complex nature. Ensure that incidents are appropriately investigated in line with the Patient Incident Response Framework and where necessary reports are provided / presented to the clinical governance review group. Ensure the data for the key performance indicators for the FASP (Fetal Anomaly Screening Programme) is produced for quarterly submission to NHS England.

Accountable for ensuring Infection Control and Clinical Governance protocols are complied with, records maintained and corrective action taken where required. Setting the standard for and coordinating Quality Assurance processes. Be responsible for equipment testing, quality audit and reject analysis. Ensuring all results are documented and reported.

Implementing any change on the results found. Monitoring, reporting and acting on equipment faults, determining the severity of the problem and its probable impact on the service and Trust. Be accountable for a service continuity plan to be in place for the service and that this is communicated to all relevant staff groups. Take a role in the technical and patient focused aspects of the department's Audit programme.

To support the department and organisation by carrying out any other duties that reasonably fit within the broad scope of a job of this grade and type of work.
