Main duties of the job
  • To manage the provision and quality of the Imperial Cath Lab service, rotating across sites as required.
  • Performing EP / CRM on adults with a range of disabilities and medical conditions across the trust sites; these tests are performed as outpatients, in wards and specialist intensive care units.
  • To work collaboratively on a day to day basis with colleagues, hospital staff and patients to ensure the service needs are met. Undertake education and training of junior colleagues and other professionals.
  • To lead the EP / CRM team at Imperial with regard to appraisal, workload, career development and education.
  • Responsible for achieving performance targets relevant to service and supporting the General Managers in achieving directorate, CPG and Trust performance targets. Delivery of agreed performance indicators in relation to clinical outcomes, clinical efficiency and service line reporting.

  • Qualified cardiac physiologist
  • IBHRE / BHRS up to date accreditation and registration.
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development, including attendance of local / in‑house management courses
  • Qualifications / experience suitable for STP equivalence
Desirable criteria
  • Higher academic qualification (MSc / MBA / PhD / doctoral study)
  • Formal management qualification
  • Clinical assessment training
  • Registered clinical scientist with the HCPC
Experience
Essential criteria
  • Previous leadership of a department / sub‑speciality area of cardiac physiology
  • Line‑management responsibilities for a team of physiologists
  • Strong teaching / training background for individuals undergoing accreditation
  • Experience of advanced EP / complex CRM implants
Desirable criteria
  • Previously employment as band 8a department lead
  • Lead on service improvement projects with demonstrable outcomesDevelopment of physiologist / scientist led services
