Overview

Lead Clinical Psychologist, REVIVE Team – Maternity cover fixed term for 12 months (30 hours). Secondment opportunity. Based with Blackburn with Darwen Children's Services in East Lancashire Child and Adolescent Service (ELCAS).

This post will manage and lead the Revive team, which includes a play therapist, 2 CAMHS practitioners and an additional clinical psychologist. Revive is a specialist Emotional Health and Well-being Team that works with young people in or who have been in the care of the local authority, providing direct and indirect support through consultations, supervision, training and reflective practice.

Main duties of the job

The post is seconded to Revive from East Lancashire Child and Adolescent Service (ELCAS). ELCAS is a specialist service with Child Psychiatrists, mental health practitioners, specialist therapists and clinical psychologists who provide evidence-based interventions for children with mental health difficulties and their families. The successful candidate will deliver leadership and clinical supervision to the Revive team for four days, while also contributing to service management tasks including implementing robust clinical governance processes. The post holder will be expected to work autonomously within a highly supportive team and will report to the Head of Clinical Service at ELCAS. Some travel across sites in East Lancashire is required, with main base at Blackburn Children’s Services, Duke Street, Blackburn.

Must be able to cover the travel requirements of the post.

Job responsibilities

You will be a dynamic, forward-thinking psychologist who will help cover a pivotal role in a changing service, working with a range of stakeholders and interfacing services to promote psychological thinking and high-quality care. The post holder will work autonomously within a supportive team, supported by a Consultant Clinical Psychologist within ELCAS, and will oversee clinical supervision and involvement in service management tasks, including clinical governance processes.

The service operates from multiple sites in East Lancashire; some travel is required. The main administrative base is Blackburn Children’s Services, Duke Street, Blackburn.

Travel requirements must be met.

Person Specification
Education
  • Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical psychology (or equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS, including models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology.
  • Post-doctoral training in one or more additional areas of psychological practice.
Knowledge
  • Doctoral level knowledge of clinical psychology, including lifespan developmental psychology, models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology and two or more distinct psychological therapies, including Family Therapy.
  • Skills in complex psychological assessment, intervention and management requiring sustained concentration.
  • Strong communication skills to convey complex, sensitive information to clients, families, carers and a wide range of professionals within and outside the NHS.
Experience
  • Substantial post-qualification experience, including work within a specialist CAMHS or Looked After Children (LAC) team.
  • Experience of delivering and evaluating Psychological Services within a CAMHS/LAC setting.
