Lead Analytical Scientist - Chemical Manufacturing

Location: Cheshire East | Salary: c£45,000 | Type: Full-Time | Permanent

Role Summary

As the Lead Analytical Scientist, you will be responsible for overseeing analytical method development, validation, and troubleshooting across a range of chemical processes and products. You\'ll lead a small team of scientists and work closely with R&D, production, and quality assurance to ensure robust analytical support for both routine operations and new product development.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the development, validation, and implementation of analytical methods for raw materials, intermediates, and finished products.
  • Provide expert support in instrumental analysis (e.g., GC, HPLC, FTIR, UV-Vis, ICP-OES).
  • Ensure compliance with GMP, ISO, and regulatory standards.
  • Manage and mentor a team of analytical scientists and technicians.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Process Engineering, R&D, and Quality Control.
  • Troubleshoot analytical issues and provide technical guidance to resolve complex problems.
  • Maintain and improve laboratory systems, documentation, and data integrity.
  • Support investigations, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements
  • Degree (BSc/MSc/PhD) in Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry, or related discipline.
  • Proven experience in a chemical manufacturing or regulated laboratory environment.
  • Strong hands-on experience with analytical instrumentation and method development.
  • Knowledge of COMAH, GMP, or ISO standards is highly desirable.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
