Overview

Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to appoint LAS Specialty Registrar (ST4+) in Anaesthesia, with commencement dates in February 2026. The tenure of all posts is 12 months (possible extension if required). The posts do not attract a National Training Number.

Key Features
  • The Anaesthetic services are split across two sites and are one of three major trauma centres in the Yorkshire and Humber region.
  • We are very supportive of those considering the CESR route and have had several fellows be successful in this process.
  • Full registration with the GMC with a licence to practise is required. If the appointee does not hold right of residence in the UK sponsorship will be required.
Responsibilities
  • Rotate through sub‑specialties – Cardiothoracic, Neuro‑anaesthesia, Intensive Care Medicine, Obstetrics, Paediatrics, and General Anaesthesia for 3‑month allocations.
  • Participate in the on‑call rota (currently 1 in 8). A period of supernumerary work or local assessment may precede rota commencement; basic pay will be applicable during this period.
  • Engage in teaching, audit, and research; local courses run for both FRCA stages and fellows are encouraged to attend.
  • Support the department’s clinical training and CESR facilitation.
Qualifications

Applicants must hold full GMC registration with a licence to practise and right of residence in the UK; sponsorship will be required for non‑resident candidates.
