Overview

Laboratory Technician opportunity within the Steel Melting industry based in West Bromwich, B70 paying up to £30,000

Our client is part of an award winning, internationally recognised business that supplies their finished products to the aerospace, surgical implants and power generation industries amongst others.

Responsibilities
  • preparation of samples using various methods, lathe's, bandsaw, table cutter, drill and others
  • preparation and analysis of various pure metals/alloys and chemical samples using XRF, ICP, Analytix, Milestone and LECO equipment to determine qualitative and quantitative chemistry's of elemental and gas content results
  • preparation of certificates of analysis in accordance with customer specifications reporting to laboratory management
  • interaction with commercial and operations staff to assess the priority of multiple tasks and the order in which they need to be completed
  • providing support to the existing laboratory manager and technicians with day-to-day tasks to keep a smooth work flow and on time testing
  • ensure laboratory practices comply with AS9100D QMS and safety protocols
Qualifications
  • previous experience in a laboratory environment
  • hands on experience in optical emission spectrometry, IR combustion and Leco
  • familiarity with steel grades
  • knowledge of quality standards (ISO, ASTM, IS codes) is preferred
  • ability to work in a high-pressure, fast -paced industrial environment
