About the Role

Are you a dynamic leader with a passion for people and precision? Lloyds Register GMT based at the prestigious Wilton Centre is seeking an exceptional Laboratory Manager to lead and inspire our high‑performing team at the forefront of marine fuel analysis.

We’re looking for a confident and capable leader with a strong background in petrochemical analysis or the marine industry. You’ll combine technical expertise with outstanding communication skills and a genuine passion for developing people. Your leadership will be instrumental in maintaining our world‑class standards and driving continuous improvement.

In this pivotal role you’ll do more than manage the laboratory operations; you’ll help shape the future of our laboratory by fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration and continuous improvement. You’ll be the driving force behind a team that delivers critical insights to safeguard marine operations and optimise vessel performance for over 6,000 ships worldwide.

The Role

  • Operational Excellence: Ensure effective management of the laboratory operations ensuring testing is efficient, safe and of the highest quality while maintaining cost‑effectiveness and compliance.
  • Strategic Collaboration: Partner with our QA Manager and HSES Lead to uphold rigorous standards in quality, safety and environmental compliance.
  • Accreditation Leadership: Ensure full compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 17025 and ISO 45001 reinforcing our reputation for technical excellence.
  • Business Impact: Manage financial and operational responsibilities including budgeting, stock control and method development to support our growth and innovation.
What you bring
  • Degree / Higher National Certificate in a related subject.
  • Excellent leadership & communication skills.
  • Experience of leading large, high‑performing teams in similar environments.
  • Detailed knowledge of relevant laboratory operations/standards and properties of relevant chemical products.
  • Detailed knowledge of relevant Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental standards.
  • Proficiency in computer skills.
