Job description
Overview

This position focuses primarily on testing the quality and durability of concrete mixtures and ensuring adherence to construction standards. It also requires participation in the entire operation of concrete batch production and concrete block manufacture at Heroic Concrete and Concrete Products together with work related to new construction, renovations, repairs, new installations and similar in-company projects. Responsibilities include concrete sample collection, laboratory and site tests, analyzing results, materials quality assurance, materials inventory control, monitoring production processes and site work including but not limited to the following:

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Test fresh and hardened concrete samples for compliance with standards and client specifications.
  • Perform slump tests and air content tests, and measure concrete temperature at job site and plant site.
  • Sample and test concrete cylinders for compressive strength and also make and test mortar cubes.
  • Conduct quality control tests on concrete production materials - aggregates, admixtures, and cement.
  • Measure volumes and perform various calculations to determine test results
  • Control inventory of concrete production materials
  • Perform R & D and mix trials for optimal mix design for specific applications.
  • Compile and interpret results of tests & analyses - record and report results.
  • Maintain and clean the laboratory and equipment and be proactive with needed testing supplies.
  • Ensure testing equipment is professionally calibrated to ensure accurate and reliable data collection
  • Monitor the curing process of concrete blocks.
  • Monitor the concrete batching process.
  • Maintain a site presence to give solid customer liaison.
  • Inspect and monitor concrete pour and placement to ensure proper techniques are being followed.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving any problems that arise during the concrete installation process.
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Collaborate with Sales in pricing concrete and concrete products.
  • Undertake any other duties as requested by the Manager or required within the organization.

  • Participate as a vital member of the team to ensure the overall success of the company
  • Readily provide information as needed to Team Members
  • Readily provide training to any team member/management as required
  • Willing to share any form of information that can enhance or add value to current processes and procedures
  • May be required to visit customer locations
Qualifications: Education, Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
  • Experience in concrete testing and quality control or a similar role preferred.
  • Certificate in concrete testing or a related field preferred.
  • Knowledge of concrete mixing and batching procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications and technical details.
  • Understanding of construction site safety practices.
  • Understanding of concrete properties, mix designs, and construction techniques.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience in troubleshooting and resolving concrete issues on job sites preferred.
  • Physical ability to lift and move heavy objects.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Supervisory skills.
  • Work in site, plant and laboratory conditions.
  • Willing to share any form of information that can enhance or add value to HCCP operations
